To all jazzlovers and to those who want to become jazzfans, there is good news at the beginning of this year. First: Against great odds, which the festival had to cope last year, JazzBaltica has been saved. Second: JazzBaltica will take place in Salzau – the venue which is inseparably connected with the festival and which is supposed to be sold by the state Schleswig-Holstein.

Themed »piano, piano – remembering Esbjörn« Salzau castle will be the center of the international jazz scene from July, 1st to July, 3rd. The motto honors one of the great jazz musicians: Esbjörn Svensson whose trio E.S.T. wrote history and started its unique career at JazzBaltica in Salzau in 1996. Three years ago Esbjörn Svensson died in a tragic accident. In 2011 E.S.T. would have existed for twenty years - so, many of his companions and friends as well as artists, whose present career would not exist without Esbjörn, will come to Salzau in his remembrance.
